Chetan Balachandra
With a broad and varied career in the music and entertainment industries, Chetan Balachandra works as a music administrator and royalty manager at Yu Leseberg.
Out of college, he started in the proverbial “mailroom” of Shankman De Blasio Melina, a prestigious Los Angeles independent management and music publishing company whose clients included the legendary singer Barry White and numerous hit-making producers/songwriters. Mr. Balachandra was soon elevated to the position of assistant day to day manager for an indie record label the firm had just started. He later moved into the side of the firm that managed producers and songwriters. Clients wrote and produced songs for such artists as Destiny’s Child, Jennifer Lopez, Toni Braxton, Madonna, George Benson, Cher, Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, and many others. Legendary artist manager Ron De Blasio ultimately brought Mr. Balachandra on to work in his artist management practice, serving such clients as X, Vikki Carr, Great White, Kool & The Gang, and comedian George Lopez.
After setting up the royalty accounting system music publishing administrator North Hudson Music as a consultant for the company, Mr. Balachandra came aboard Yu Leseberg and North Hudson Music full time in 2015. He currently manages publishing royalties, artist and producer clients’ fees and royalties and music licensing, and oversees the firm’s bookkeeping and office management.
Mr. Balachandra is a long-time resident of southern California. He is originally a native of the Boston area and a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University.
